Political Activity

As chairman of the House Economic Matters Committee, Dereck is a key member of the senior leadership team for the House of Delegates. Key Accomplishments: Provided $4.5 billion for public schools. Funding K - 12 education.

Secured over $320 million for school construction and renovation projects around the state, including $40 million for Prince George’s County.   Voted to fund a program that will connect experts in our community with seniors who need help, so they can get the benefits they deserve.   Passed legislation tightening the rules on power plant emissions, which will help reduce the incidence of these debilitating diseases.
